International Art Exchange (100)

Please save for your reference.

Follow the guidelines below to complete your OneWorld Classrooms International Art Exchange (100).

(Also: See our Tips for a Great Exchange and Collaboration Tools and Resources for Teachers in the right hand column.)

1. Send up to 100 pieces of student-created artwork via first class mail to:

OneWorld Classrooms
51 Belvidere Hts.
Haverhill, MA 01830
USA.

*IMPORTANT: You may mail your artwork any time; but, keep in mind that we will mail artwork to you shortly AFTER we receive your package. Mail may take one to three weeks each way. Plan accordingly if you would like to receive your return artwork before the end of your school year or a specific date/event.

2. Upon receipt of your artwork, OneWorld Classrooms will mail you up to 100 pieces* of artwork created by students from around the world whose grade levels closely match yours. (*We will send the same number of pieces as you send, up to 100.)

3. Send original student artwork -- using any media -- that accurately reflects aspects of your students' lives/cultures. Students should produce colorful and artistic work. If possible, please have students color in all white spaces on the page.

TIP: Encourage your students to do their very best work, since their artwork may be displayed and will be a window through which others will learn about them and their culture. If you are a classroom teacher, consider involving your Art teacher or an Artist in Residence.

4. Encourage students to avoid repetition of subjects (houses, flags, bald eagles, etc.). To ensure variety, you may wish to discuss and even assign different subjects.

5.Submit artwork on paper of the following sizes:

International size: A4, A3 or in-between
North American size: 8.5 x 11 inches, 11 x 17 inches or in-between

You may optionally laminate your artwork or put each piece in plastic cover sheets. (The artwork you receive may or may not be laminated or in plastic sheets.)

6. Have students attach personal information labels to the backs of their artwork with paperclips. Students may also include additional information about their artwork or themselves.

You may use the labels available following the links below or make your own.

HTML -- English | Spanish
Microsoft Word --
English | Spanish

[USE THE BACK BUTTON TO RETURN FROM THE LABELS]

7. Optionally, you may also attach small student photos to each piece of artwork in the same way. Write the student's name on the back of the photo. Alternatively, you may send digital photos of your students on a CD. If you do, number the labels (and art, if applicable) and the photos so they match.

If you include/attach photos, we will send you mostly artwork with photos, if possible.

TIP: If possible, take photos of your students holding their artwork.

8. Check all student work for appropriate content (for more on this, see our Terms of Use).

9. When mailing your artwork, please include a cover letter or note indicating the teacher's name, grade level, school, city, state/province and country -- and any information that will help explain the artwork you are sending.

10. We will send you a confirmation notice by E-mail when we have received your artwork and mailed your return artwork. Please send us an E-mail when you receive your return artwork in the mail.

11. If you have any questions or concerns, please send an E-mail to robin@oneworldclassrooms.org.
